Crossroads of the West Gunshow

In Phoenix this weekend...

We went on the second day of the show, Saturday, about 10 AM.

Long lines to pay $15 admission. Shoulder-to-shoulder crowds. We only made it through one building. It looked like there were at least a few more buildings open. The crowd-talk was nobody remembered seeing this many people at this show before.

My brother was overwhelmed, and didn't really want to stay long--okay with me. He found an extra 20-rounder for his Mini-14 for $50, and some gun cleaning supplies, a rifle case and we picked up some ammo for the Mini.

Tons of ammo at wholesale (?) prices, mostly Wolf steel case stuff (don't remember prices). Some brass stuff... Winchester 7.62x51 for $159/200...Winchester 9mm 115 fmj $115/500...Federal 5.56 Nato XM193 $110/250 rds in ammo cans. Looks like they were selling/had sold plenty of ammo...there were SEVERAL groups there selling it by the case.

AR's used...saw a couple in the $850-$950 range

AR's new...most were overpriced generally in the $1200-$1600 range. Didn't really see any stripped lowers. Complete uppers running for $650...couldn't price the complete lowers.

AK's...best prices I saw were beautifully done Lancaster HUNGARIANS for $899 (their table was swamped), by the way Chet expects the Bulgarian AK-74's to be built and ready for sale after the 1st of the year...everything else was $1000-1200 and a few Bulgarian AK-74s for $1600 (the guy said that was his "gang-banger" price--keeps them away from his table) :ok:

Lots of mags...Glock high caps $49, didn't get a chance to price AR and AK mags. There was a pavillion outside dedicated to nothing but mags, however we didn't make it in...

Lots of surplus rifles, SKSs ($400 and up for Chinese and Yugos)...

Did I mention crowds? Overall, I saw a lot of interested looking, didn't see a whole lot of buying (except ammo) and we only stayed a short time...I can only wonder what Friday was like.

Sorry, but I didn't have time to price MBRs and the like...we got tired of joustling and poking our way through all the people and left early.

Regards y'all, SC

SKS's for $400? Yikes. That's double the typical price in less than a year.

Hey SC - I saw you there !!!
We made it through 4 buildings and the outdoor area by closing but didn't get into the SAR building. The place was swamped as you say - lots of nu-bees checking out stuff. Lots of ammo going out the door on dollys. Prices were way higher than the usual high prices. There were tons of mags - A lot of 'mil contract' (so they say) no-name AR mags. Lots and lots of Pro-mag stuff. Very few P-Mags and the ones that were there were $25-$30 (at least $10 over list price). AK mags started at $20 and went up. Looks like the AWB gouging days are back. I did find a new XD mag for 20 and a pair of Mec-Gar 20 rounders for a S&W 59 for $20. New thermolds for $15. Very few people were selliing guns in the aisles, except some overpriced AR's for $1200-$1500. I noticed ammo has really jumped since the Tucson show a couple weeks ago - 7.62x39 went up about $100 per k.
I picked up a Burris 4.5x14 with good mounts and rings for $225 and my buddy found a Kimber carry for $800. It was slim pickens but we managed to come away with some decent buys. Feet were really hurting by the end of the day but it was worth it. :10_1_19:

Many thanks for the report, SC. I was sad I didn't go...

...until I read your description of the crowds and the related madness, that is. Now I'm relieved that I passed on the event and opted for mail order instead.

Once again, thanks.

I went also.

Only got to 5 of the 7 buildings. ARs and AKs priced at $1200. I didn't see to many actually selling at those prices though. SOG armory (out front) had stripped lowers for $199, best price in the show

Plenty of AR mags available for $15-17, not bad these days. Did not see any P-MAGS. I was looking cause I wanted some PMAG 20s.

Lots of good deals to be had if you wanted revolvers or old bolt actions.

The primer guy had plenty of primers, but was sold out of Win Large Rifle by mid Saturday morning. Powder was pretty skosh though. I didn't find any I wanted.

My buddy Scott bought a nice little High Standard .22 target pistol; I came home with an H&R top break in .38 S&W.

Somehow I don't see these as reasonable prices, but someday soon we might look back and say WOW ~ I woulda ~ coulda ~ shoulda.......

A stripper lower for $199 ?
And to think this past summer you could buy a complete lower from AIM Surplus for $219 + shipping.

TAD,
THESE ARE 'THE GOOD OLD DAYS'. RIGHT NOW.

Get it or forget it. In less than forty days, things go down hill in a hurry.

SCOTUS has abandoned the Constitution. We have all been screwed.

The USA has become a country I no longer recognize.

Like I said, THESE ARE THE GOOD OLD DAYS.

Good luck and keep your powder dry.
